Helping People and Dogs Build Better Lives Together

Our Story

Our owner began her journey in dog training 12 years ago in South Texas. Initially as a client, her passion for learning led her to work alongside her trainer. Even after moving, the influence of her dog training mentor remains profound. She is dedicated to empowering owners to enjoy their dogs as they are capable. Her mentors specialized in working with aggressive, reactive, and resource-guarding dogs, and she has inherited this talent. Her mission is to give “harder” dogs the opportunity for a better life.

We use the four quadrants of Operant conditioning, a science-based approach to learning. By engaging the dog’s attention, we create positive experiences. We give rewarding outcomes and offer clear guidance. We reinforce desired behaviors with rewards tailored to the dog’s preferences.

At K9 Fluent, we embrace a balanced dog training approach that incorporates both classical and operant conditioning. We don’t adhere to just one method, whether it’s positive-only, negative-only, or outdated techniques. Instead, we tailor our training to each dog, using all four quadrants of operant conditioning. Our neutral approach combines attention, rewards, and appropriate consequences (never harmful) to guide dogs toward making confident, correct choices. Every dog is unique. Our goal is to help them thrive. We use the most effective techniques for their individual needs.

It’s essential to teach dogs that stress is a natural part of life. Learning how to cope with it is key to their well-being. Just like people, dogs can’t avoid stress, but they can be taught how to manage and navigate through it. Our goal is to build confident dogs that can face challenges, make choices, and thrive in their daily lives. Dogs are meant to be more than just companions. They are part of the family. They share in joy and experiences. They should live fulfilling, happy lives
